3. Popcorn read the article "The Chris McCandless Obsession Problem" by Diana Saverin 

4. Underline some passages that you find interesting

English 10: 6th Period 

1. Read 

2Look at examples from literature that describe the monsters Grendel (Beowulf), Smaug (The Hobbit), and dementors (Harry Potter). Read descriptions of the monsters from the slide and describe them yourself in a discussion. 

3. Journal: What is a monster? How would you describe it in at least one to two paragraphs? 

4. Share your vivid description of a monster with your group and then to the class. 

5.  Create a monster as a group and describe it in three to four sentences using vivid imagery. 

6. Work in groups to put a poem by Ellen Hopkins in the correct order. Infer the meaning of the poem.
